Featured Company of the week: AITbiotech Pte Ltd., Singapore
10th March 2016
This week, we feature Singapore’s AITbiotech Pte Ltd., which offers molecular diagnostics and genomic services
AITbiotech was founded in 2006 in Singapore by a couple – Alen Thian and Sue Yap- as a life science company. The company provides molecular diagnostics products and genomic services. The company has established collaboration ties with research institutes such as A*STAR Research Institute, to develop a wide-range of real-time PCR assays for molecular diagnosis of various infectious diseases.
The company has commercialized several multiplex assays under the brand name abTES. AITbiotech has received CE-IVD mark for two of the qPCR assays – abTES Flu 4-plex and abTES MTB – in 2012. In the same year in October, the company was awarded the ISO 13485:2003 certification for its design, development, and manufacturing of qPCR kits and genomic services. Since then, the company has added several real-time PCR assays to its portfolio.
One of the latest products of the company to receive CE-IVD mark is abTES™ DEN 4 qPCR I Kit, a multiplexed real-time PCR test for dengue infection. This product, which received CE-IVD mark in April, 2015, can detect serotype 1-4 in a single reaction tube. It can also be used for dengue surveillance in population.
The services offered by the company include oligonucleotide synthesis, capillary sequencing, and NGS. The company has the partnership with leading life sciences companies, such as Life Technologies, in the area of genomic services.
Besides infectious diseases, AITbiotech is dedicated to develop Personal Genomic Diagnostic (PGx) tests and assays, especially companion diagnostic assays that detect drug resistance and drug adverse side effects.
